Douglas Lloyd - Founder and CEO

Prior to founding Venture Business Research, Douglas worked in corporate finance and private equity/venture capital for 12 years in London, Paris and New York. He began his career at HSBC Investment Bank (London and Manchester) and was then recruited to Close Brothers Corporate Finance (London and Paris). Most recently he was Head of European Investment Banking at WR Hambrecht + Co. in New York. He is currently an adviser to Sandpiper Investments Limited, an operationally active investor in small growth companies.

Douglas has extensive experience of working with dynamic private and public companies as an advisor raising equity capital, providing strategic advice and working on buyside and sellside mandates. At Close Brothers Douglas was the fund manager for the highly successful First Close Technology Fund, which invested in companies including Active Hotels and Bango.

Douglas co-founded VBR with the objective of streamlining the financing process for private companies, improving information flow in the non-public financing markets and creating a series of dedicated sector-based professional communities.

Estelle Lloyd - Founder and COO

Estelle Lloyd has worked in Venture Capital and Investment Banking for the past 10 years. Before founding Venture Business Research, Estelle worked for BNP Paribas USA, in debt financing, leveraged finance and principal investments. Prior to joining BNP Paribas, Estelle worked in the Leveraged Finance Sponsor group of Credit Agricole Indosuez (now Calyon) where she spent time structuring and executing various financing transactions involving European and US companies.

She created Venture Business Research in 2006 to offer direct relevant deal information to investors, entrepreneurs and everyone involved in financing emerging companies and technologies.

Estelle is an MBA graduate from the dual international MBA programme of Columbia Graduate School of Business in New York and London Business School. She was born in France.

Dr Malcolm Robertson - Director of Research

Malcolm Robertson brings over 5 years experience of research and data analysis to VBR. His experience includes 4 years at Oxford University during which he completed a DPhil before taking up a position as a Postdoctoral Research Associate.

After leaving university Malcolm joined the medical education agency, TVF Communications. Here he worked closely with key opinion leaders in the UK's National Health Service ("NHS") and the pharmaceutical industry to produce medical communication solutions.

Caroline Ohrn - Analyst CleanTech & Renewable Energy Research

Caroline is a skilled media and business analyst with extensive international experience in Europe and Americas. She has conducted market research studies across a range of industries and has produced a number of business intelligence reports identifying market drivers in IT and Financial Services sectors. Caroline’s business acumen is ample, as she both worked within, and consulted to, various companies, including Visa Europe and Dell. She has held positions performing many aspects of the business intelligence lifecycle as a business analyst.

She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from ESG Graduate School of Management based in Paris and an Master of Arts in International Communications and Development from City University in London. Caroline speaks English, Swedish, French, and Spanish, and has a good working knowledge of German, Norwegian and Danish.
